Dr. Gary A. Smith, MD.

Began his career as a Firefighter/Paramedic with Apache Junction Fire in 1986. With over 40 years of experience Dr. Smith is considered a leading expert in fire service, public safety, and other areas of health and wellness. Dr. Smith is also the current Medical Director for The Positive Impact Alliance.

Dr. Tom Seager PhD

An Associate Professor at Arizona State University. Seager leads research teams working at the boundaries of engineering and social science. Considered an international authority on cold immersion and other resiliency methods. Dr. Seager is author of Uncommon Cold, The Science and Experience of Cold Plunge Therapy with over 500 cited studies.

Dr. Nick Hool, PhD

Arizona State University. Co-Founder and CEO – Hoolest Performance Technologies AZ. Dr. Hool, has extensive experience in the field of neuro-performance and cognitive enhancement. Considered a leading authority on accelerated stress, recovery, the nervous system and the Vagus nerve.

Dr. Noah Robinson, PhD

Clinical Phycologist from Vanderbilt University. Founder and CEO Innerworld a social virtual world and clinical research platform that delivers Cognitive Behavioral Immersion™. This novel transdiagnostic peer support intervention is accessible through both immersive VR and flat screens (Mac, PC, iOS). Innerworld’s clinical approach was translated out of Noah’s doctoral research at Vanderbilt University under the mentorship of world-renowned CBT expert Dr. Steven Hollon. To date, Innerworld has provided evidence-based intervention for over 30,000 people. After launching on the Meta Quest store, Innerworld became the #1 rated free/subscription application that month. Dr. Marco Santello, PhD

Neurophysiology, is the Fulton Professor of Neural Engineering at the School of Biological and Health Systems Engineering in the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering at Arizona State University. Santello is the director of the Neural Control of Movement Laboratory. He served as the Harrington Endowed Chair and Director of the School of Biological and Health Systems Engineering from 2012 to 2022. Santello currently serves as the ASU Site Director of the NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center BRAIN and Director of the Science and Technology Center in Human Performance.

Dr. Vincent Marino, MD.

graduated from University of Arizona College of Medicine in 1988 and has been in Medical practice for over 30 years. He recently retired as Chief of Emergency Medicine at Honor Health. He also served at Scottsdale Emergency Associates Ltd as well as with Honor Health Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center and Scottsdale Shea Medical Center. Dr. Marino was the president of the Scottsdale Emergency Associates.

Dr. Jeff Burgess, MD, MS, MHP

Professor, Public Health, Professor, BIO5 Institute, Adjunct Professor, Mining and Geological Engineering. Dr. Burgess has worked as an Emergency Medicine physician, Medical Toxicologist, and Occupational and Environmental Medicine physician, and has been collaborating with firefighters on health and safety research since 1992, including a focus on cancer prevention since 2015. Dr. Burgess has served as Principal Investigator for multiple Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funded research grants with firefighters and is a co-lead of the Fire Fighter Cancer Cohort Study (FFCCS). He is a member of Fire Service Occupational Cancer Alliance, facilitated by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF).

Dr. Vershalee Shukla, MD.

Founder- Vincere Cancer Center a leading radiation oncologist specializing in innovative technologies and holistic patient care. She is recognized for pioneering a progressive cancer screening program for Arizona firefighters, advocating for their health, and co-founding the 493 Firefighter Foundation. Dr. Shukla is also known for bringing world-first technology like the vault-less Zap radiation machine to her center and focusing on patient well-being through various complementary approaches. Dr. Shukla has a substantial publication record, with over thirty publications and two textbook chapters in peer-reviewed oncology journals. Dr. Shukla is a champion for firefighters and first responders, leading a cancer screening program that has saved lives. She spearheaded the program in Arizona, which included securing FEMA grants for statewide screening. She served on a Senate Ad-Hoc Committee to address contaminant risk and exposure for first responders in Arizona. She has been interviewed by national publication, including The New York Times and The Boston Globe, as an expert on new cancer care technologies.

Deana Charter, M.Ed., BHC, LPC.

Deana has accumulated more than 20 years of experience across a wide range of clinical environments, such as private practice, intensive outpatient programs for chemical dependency, inpatient treatment clinics for both adolescent and adult mental health issues, and as a therapist for Employee Assistance Programs (EAP). Currently, her focus is in trauma and EMDR therapies tailored specifically for First Responders.

Dr. Melody Medawar Rodarte, D.O.

A double board-certified internist and obesity medicine specialist in Arizona. She was named one of Phoenix’s Top Doctors in Obesity Medicine in 2017, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024. She obtained her doctorate of osteopathic medicine from Midwestern University in 2002. She is also Certified in hyperbaric medicine, wound care and medical aesthetics. She has been married to her husband Tony for 24 years and they have 19-year-old twins. They love to travel the world and serve both their community and internationally. With this passion they started a nonprofit for first responders called The Compassion Alliance when he retired from a 20-year career in law enforcement.

Jewel Kilcher “Jewel“

The Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter is also considered one of the leading advocates and experts in the field of Mental and Emotional wellness. The multi-platinum-selling music artist, who for decades has been championing mental and emotional wellbeing through avenues including her Inspiring Children Foundation, is the co-founder of a new platform called Innerworld that makes resources accessible via a social virtual world managed by trained coaches and therapists steeped in cognitive behavioral tools.
