I started utilizing the Positive Impact Alliance's Recharge Room about 4 months ago after years of struggling post a multi-level lower lumbar fusion. Post surgery and physical therapy, I was only able to do minimal active things, like walking and siting on the floor for 5 to 10 minutes tops before pain set in. After living like that for the past 4 years, I thought that was the best I was going to be in my life. Well not so, in 4 months of Recharge Room usage, I went from a pretty sedentary lifestyle, to working out three to four days a week, able to run, bend, do chores, interact with family, and was so much happier to be around. I lost 20 pounds and gained about 15 years of youth back in my life. I no longer need to take over-the-counter medications for pain or swelling. This is absolutely the best I have felt since 2014!!!

I attended a 4 day Thermal Imaging Training Class. Each day included theory, hands-on skills, and live fire exercises. In my career in fire suppression, I've noticed that smoke odors tend to linger. However, after using the Recharge room at PSTF, I experienced significant improvement. Following the sessions, I noticed less smoke smell, which typically persists through multiple hair washings. The red light therapy, 20-minute sauna, and cold plunge seemed particularly effective, with no lingering smoke smell even according to my wife.

Since incorporating the Recharge Room into my daily routine, I've experienced a remarkable transformation in my overall well-being. One of the most notable benefits has been a significant increase in my energy levels and focus. My workouts have greatly improved with the trio of red light/infrared therapy, sauna, and cold plunge.

In addition to the energy boost, my mood has improved dramatically; I feel much happier and calmer. This newfound tranquility has had a positive ripple effect on all aspects of my life and family, making me more focused and productive.

One of the most surprising benefits has been the impact on my sleep and pain management. Before starting with the Recharge Room, I relied on Ambien to help me sleep and ibuprofen to manage chronic pain. Now, I no longer need either. The Recharge Room has naturally improved my sleep quality, allowing me to fall asleep faster and wake up feeling more rested. Additionally, the combination of red light, sauna, and cold exposure has significantly reduced my pain levels, eliminating the need for daily ibuprofen.

Overall, the combination of red light/infrared therapy, vagus nerve treatment, sauna, and cold plunge has been a game-changer for me, enhancing my energy, mood, sleep, and pain management without the need for medication. I would highly recommend this combination of therapies to anyone who wants to feel better.

I’m currently at 19 years and I didn’t think I could go any further but thanks to the recharge room, I’m going to make it to 25 years to retirement.

Upon leaving, my shoulders drooped, my head felt light, my legs felt like Jello… and all in a good way! I carry tension in my shoulders so I often feel like they’re only a few inches from my ears most days! Today I felt relaxed and tension free! My headache from earlier in the day had gone away and I just felt an overall calm in my body that I usually only get on vacation! If we have support like this available, it will definitely help me extend my career. I’m currently at 19 years and I didn’t think I could go any further but thanks to the recharge room, I’m going to make 25 years to retirement.

This is such a great benefit. I was skeptical — it’s hard to turn off my brain and it doesn’t happen often. But for 10 minutes today I was able to completely relax and recharge. For 10 minutes I had a real break. And although it was only 10 minutes, it felt much longer. This is a tremendous benefit. Thank you!

The huge difference I’ve noticed is effectively diminishing the scent of smoke.

Sauna therapy for me has resulted in reduced muscle soreness and stiffness, contributing to quicker recovery times. Furthermore, the induced sweating helps eliminate toxins and residues, diminishing the lingering smell of smoke after quarterly training and cleaning of class A. There are a few times when I wasn’t able to use the sauna because it was booked and the smoke smell lingered for a few days or until I was able to get into the sauna. After burns we also have to clean the burn building to prepare for the next burn. This I believe is our highest exposure in training to carcinogens as we wear surgical masks and eye protection as the work is very taxing physically and can’t be done in full PPE. Being able to get into the Recharge Room and sweat out this exposure is no doubt in my mind beneficial and a must for training staff. I do not smell like smoke after using Recharge Room!

Red light therapy I have noticed my skin looks healthier and some scarring and sun damage seems to be diminishing.

Cold plunge therapy, I have noticed more energy and better sleep. Also it has helped lingering joint pain injuries that have almost disappeared or at very least not as nagging before I started this routine.

Collectively, these therapies have helped me with the physical toll of firefighting being in turnouts 3-4 times a week either from burning in class A or doing breath downs (work hardening workouts in full PPE). But the huge difference I’ve noticed is effectively diminishing the scent of smoke.

As a psychologist this was a great reminder of how wonderful mindfulness and the stimulation of the vagus nerve can be. I came in tense, but left relaxed and ready to continue to tackle my day. Having gone through EMDR therapy, this had similar effects and a similar experience. It would be great to have more access to this!

I have recovered better and don’t have the exhaustion I normally have post training.

I have noticed a significant difference from when I use the recharge room post fires. Both my wife and I have noticed I do not smell like smoke for days afterwards. My wife can’t tell if I even burned after that day's recharge room. The days I haven’t used the recharge room I can smell smoke on my skin and my hair will smell like smoke for up to 3 days. I also feel like I have recovered better and don’t have the exhaustion I normally have post training.
